WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA — SunLight General Capital is proud to announce the inauguration of a ~1.8 MW community solar facility in Washington, D.C. This facility was built at the site of the Brentwood Reservoir next to Gallaudet University.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 29th, and featured a speech from SunLight’s Chief Development Officer, Bill Zachary. The solar facility was constructed in collaboration with partners the National Housing Trust and Urban Ingenuity.
Built atop a DC Water reservoir that has supplied water to nearby residents for almost 70 years, the 4,000-panel solar project will now generate electricity for more than 500 local low-income residents, reducing each of their utility bills by approximately 50%.
