In July 2024, SunLight General Capital (SunLight) secured an $8 million bridge loan from NYCEEC, which has since fully matured, to finance two of our ground-mounted solar PV installations in the town of Holland Patent in upstate New York. 100% of the energy generated by both projects is dedicated to low-to-moderate-income (LMI) residents in the National Grid service territory.
Both of these solar installations participate in New York’s “Expanded Solar For All” (E-SFA) Program. Through this initiative, we contribute directly to LMI utility customers in the region. These funds are pooled with contributed funds from other E-SFA projects and distributed to LMI utility customers as credits to their electric bills.
These solar projects both consist of ground mounted modules, which represent an incredibly fruitful use of otherwise idle plots of land. Ground mounted panels also offer some advantages as an alternative to rooftop solar, as they operate more efficiently due to better airflow, and are less intensive to maintain.
