Joe Shipley directs the acquisition of in-development and operating solar projects for SunLight’s growing portfolio, responding to formal M&A processes by banks, brokers, receivers and private sellers, and performing diligence and closing on those projects that meet SunLight’s target return on investment. Building a network of transaction counterparties, Joe negotiates joint ventures and other goal-aligned partnerships to fit the varied aims and needs of SunLight’s many co-development, origination, and construction partners across the country. In addition, he oversees aspects of the portfolio’s asset management and servicing and runs trading operations for the portfolio’s environmental attributes. Joe was previously a consultant with a leading boutique derivatives advisor to private equity funds and project finance sponsors. Prior to working in finance and energy, he served as business administrator in a construction firm, where he gained technical expertise and project management experience.
