273 kW DC Rooftop System Generates Renewable, Discounted Electricity to Energy-Burdened Community in Maryland

unLight General Capital celebrates the success of a 273 kW DC solar project operating on top of the Paddington Square Apartments Building in Silver Spring, Maryland. SunLight financed the project and worked with the local non-profit Groundswell to distribute its financial benefits to the Silver Springs community. Through Groundswell’s community solar subscription platform, the project has reduced the utility bills of twenty-eight low-income and sixty-three moderate-income households. The success of the Paddington Square project exemplifies the environmental and social impact of collaboration between solar financiers, non-profits, and housing authorities.
